The Keele University Chancellor’s Building is home to many things. It provides teaching space for a range of Humanities and Social Science courses, as well as social spaces, food outlets, a shop, and the Westminster Theatre. It also features a variety of eateries, including CENTRAL kitchen, CENTRAL café, and CENTRAL to go, all located in the main atrium, along with social seating spaces for students and staff to use throughout the day and into the evening.
Working with designs produced by catering design consultants PSV Design, we were successful in securing the project to design, supply, and install the open kitchen and food servery counters.
The kitchen includes:
- A central cooking island with adjacent preparation areas
- Ample refrigerated and frozen storage
- A cook island featuring three Rational 20-grid ovens, induction tops, and rise-and-fall grills
- Surrounding prep areas with undercounter refrigeration
The food servery comprises three separate food counters, each offering a different food concept. All counters were made from Dekton, which was used for both the worktops and counter frontages, giving the entire servery an extremely high-end finish.
The full concept and design were created by PSV Design Consultancy, who specialise in creating inspiring dining spaces for higher education facilities.
The project was successfully completed and handed over in September 2021, just in time for the new academic year. The overall space created looks stunning and is a most welcome addition to the Keele University campus.
