Swift Foodservice Equipment was appointed to design and install a new commercial kitchen and front-of-house servery at the University of Nottingham’s Castle Meadow Campus. The brief called for a high-capacity, future-ready facility with a clean, contemporary finish that reflects the ambition of this landmark academic setting.
This turnkey project included full strip-out, M&E services, ventilation, and walk-in cold rooms. Swift delivered a complete kitchen fit-out for both hot and cold preparation, centred around energy-efficient equipment including Rational Combi Pro ovens, Hobart warewashing systems, and Williams cold storage — all selected to support the University’s sustainability goals.
A fully electric Bonnet cooking suite with griddles, planchas, and bratt pans provides flexibility while reducing carbon output. Ventilation was handled by a bespoke Halyon canopy system with integrated LED lighting, grease filtration, UV odour control, and fire suppression (Ansul).
Walk-in fridges and freezers feature digital monitoring, while warewashing is handled by Hobart undercounter and passthrough units serving both the kitchen and servery areas.
The front-of-house counter was custom-built in a stepped, stone-effect laminate with integrated chilled displays, beverage stations, and concealed storage — delivering a clean, modern look aligned with the wider campus design vision.
